New song "Ocean Floor" out now!

Ocean Floor is the first single from the forthcoming album Metanoia by Pieces of Juno. Featuring on Ocean Floor is Tom Waits collaborator Bebe Risenfors on bass clarinet, and multi-instrumentalist Freddy Holm on mandolin and effects. The track is recorded as a one-take. Mixed and mastered by Åse Ava Fredheim / KomLava Sound

Ocean Floor is inspired by the duality of the ocean; serene and violent - traits which can also be attributed to human kind. Pieces of Junos philosophy is that through self-knowledge we can choose virtue and compassion over violence and hate.

The theme is deeply personal - about changing one’s own perception and behaviour, so I wanted to do something completely different this time.

“The theme is deeply personal - about changing one’s own perception and behaviour, so I wanted to do something completely different this time. I asked Freddy to host a session with me and Bebe (whom I had never played with or met before!). The rules were simple: three takes of each song maximum. No editing. No cut and paste. No cheating or endless revisions. It was a major challenge to let go, but in the end, that is what the record is all about.

Ocean Floor and the other songs on Metanoia are mixed and mastered by Åse Ava Fredheim who’s also an artist and composer. It was such a joy working with someone like her, an expert in the acoustic aesthetic. I’ve been searching for a female mastering engineer in Norway for so long, and I’m thrilled about the result after working with Åse”
